【摘要】:Theabilityofaplasticmaterialtoresistdeteriorationofitselectrical,mechanical,andopticalpropertiescausedbyexposuretolight,heat,andwatercanbeverysignificantformanyapplications.Thispracticeisintendedtoinducepropertychangesassociatedwithend-useconditions,includingtheeffectsofsunlight,moisture,andheat.Theexposureusedinthispracticeisnotintendedtosimulatethedeteriorationcausedbylocalizedweatherphenomenasuchasatmosphericpollution,biologicalattack,andsaltwaterexposure.(Warning8212;Variationinresultsmaybeexpectedwhenoperatingconditionsarevariedwithintheacceptedlimitsofthispractice;therefore,noreferencetotheuseofthispracticeshallbemadeunlessaccompaniedbyareportpreparedinaccordancewithSection9thatdescribesthespecificoperatingconditionsused.RefertoPracticeG151fordetailedinformationonthecaveatsapplicabletouseofresultsobtainedinaccordancewiththispractice.)Note28212;Additionalinformationonsourcesofvariabilityandonstrategiesforaddressingvariabilityinthedesign,execution,anddataanalysisoflaboratory-acceleratedexposuretestsisfoundinGuideG141.Reproducibilityoftestresultsbetweenlaboratorieshasbeenshowntobegoodwhenthestabilityofmaterialsisevaluatedintermsofperformancerankingcomparedtoothermaterialsortoacontrol;therefore,exposureofasimilarmaterialofknownperformance(acontrol)atthesametimeasthetestmaterialsisstronglyrecommended.3,4Itisrecommendedthatatleastthreereplicatesofeachmaterialbeexposedtoallowforstatisticalevaluationofresults.TestresultswilldependuponthecarethatistakentooperatetheequipmentinaccordancewithPracticeG153.Significantfactorsincluderegulationoflinevoltage,freedomfromsaltorotherdepositsfromwater,temperatureandhumiditycontrol,andconditionsoftheelectrodes.1.1Thispracticecoversspecificproceduresandtestconditionsthatareapplicableforexposureofplasticsinenclosedcarbon-arcdevicesconductedinaccordancewithPracticesG151andG153.Thispracticealsocoversthepreparationoftestspecimens,thetestconditionssuitedforplastics,andtheevaluationoftestresults.1.2Thispracticedoesnotcoverfilteredopen-flamecarbon-arcexposuresofplastics,whicharecoveredinPracticeD1499.PracticeD5031describesenclosedcarbon-arcexposuresofpaintsandrelatedcoatings.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Note1ThereisnoknownISOequivalenttothispractice.
